Happy Friday everyone!
Today I got a review and some swatches for you guys of the Urban Decay Naked On The Run palette. I happened to win this palette in a contest Kat over at You Saucy Minx was holding. I actually forgot I had entered, so when I got the email saying I had won, it was a huge surprise!
So Urban Decay released their limited edition Naked On The Run palette toward the end of last year. The palette is designed to take with you and has all the tools you need to create just about any look you need. It contains 6 brand new, never-before-seen eye shadows (one can also be used as a highlighter), a blush/bronzer, travel sizes of their Perversion mascara & 24/7 eye pencil and a lip gloss.
First off, let’s talk about the packaging. It is GORGEOUS! I love the rose gold trim (if you know me or have been following my blog, you’ll know I have been totally obsessed with rose gold this past fall and winter). The box is very sturdy and nicely made. One of the most gorgeous packaging for a palette I have ever seen. It has a magnetic closure, so it shouldn’t open if you have it in your purse or tote bag. The inside cover is a huge mirror. I will note that this palette is kind bulky, so if you use a small purse, this palette would not fit. But if you carry a larger purse or a tote bag, it would definitely fit.
Onto the eye shadows. Let’s break them down one by one:
Dive – Metallic rose with golden micro-shimmer (naturally this one is my favorite of the palette)
Fix – Soft taupe matte
Resist – Medium metallic taupe
Dare – Medium brown matte
Stun – Metallic bronze w/light gold micro-shimmer
5050 – Cool bisque satin
Left to Right: Dive, Fix, Resist, Dare, Stun, 5050
The eye shadows are what you come to expect with most Urban Decay shadows. They’re very soft and pigmented. Since they’re so soft there’s some fallout, but they apply really nicely and blend beautifully. First time I used the palette I used Fix in the crease, Dive all over the lid, Dare on the outer corner and 5050 to highlight my brow bone. My boyfriend even complimented me on how pretty my eye makeup looked that day.
Onto the blush and bronzer. The blush is bright pink with just a hint of shimmer and the bronzer is a matte medium bronze (according to Urban Decay’s site). I like the blush more than I was expecting to. It’s very pigmented and gives a nice flush of color. The bronzer on the other hand… I don’t really care for it. On my skin it looks a little too orange. I did a little light contouring with it, but then switched to my favorite Smashbox bronzer in Suntan Matte to finish up.

The 24/7 eye pencil is a shade called Stag, which is a deep brown. It’s nice to see a palette like this come with a brown shade of eyeliner instead of the usual black. In the past, I never cared much for the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils. I felt they were a little too greasy for me and I always preferred the Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes pencils instead. The pencil in this palette though may have changed my mind on the 24/7 pencils. It doesn’t feel greasy at all and once it sets, that sucker won’t budge until you take it off with a makeup wipe or eye makeup remover.
The Perversion mascara I had actually tried before and thought it wasn’t bad, so to have a mini size of it in this palette is nice. It’s not the most mind blowing mascara I’ve ever used, but I like it well enough as it does make my lashes look a little fuller.
Lip gloss in Sesso on top; 24/7 eye pencil in Stag on bottom
And last we have the lip gloss, which is in the shade Sesso, which is a pretty rose color with a hint of shimmer. My first time using the palette I wore this over my lips filled in with my Milani lip pencil in Spice. It’s just your average lip gloss, but it’s nice. My only complaint is it smells slightly funky but I’m not sensitive to smells like some, so it doesn’t bother me as the smell fades not long after applying. It has that normal tacky lip gloss feel and lasts a few hours (as long as you’re not eating or drinking) before it fades.
So overall, this palette is really nice and definitely versatile. Would I have bought this myself if I hadn’t won it? Probably not. This palette costs $54, which is definitely expensive. Do I recommend purchasing it for yourself? Yeah. If you want something that has everything you need in one box and you can afford it, why not? It’s a really nice palette and I’m enjoying using it. Once the lip gloss, eye pencil and mascara run out, I can replace them with small sizes of other brands so I can still have everything in one box. It’s definitely a great travel palette.
Ok that should do it for today! Do you have this palette? What do you think of it? Let me know below in the comments.
As always I want to thank you all so much for reading! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you all again Monday with a new post! 🙂
