I know I’ve been absent for almost 2 months and I apologize. I have no other excuse than I just wasn’t feeling like posting. I’d been thinking about what I wanted to do with this blog. I’ve been doing this for almost 6 years now. Did I want to keep going or just call it a day? Well, I’ve deiced to keep going… for now at least.
Anyhow, I got some mini reviews for you today of some things I’ve recently picked up at Sephora, Ulta & the drugstore. So let’s just jump into it, shall we?
Milani Rose Butter Lip Mask
I saw Zabrena talk about this on her YouTube channel and I was intrigued. I’d been looking for a lip mask, but didn’t really want one that breaks the bank. This retails for $9.99 (and I got it even cheaper than that thanks to a 30% off Milani coupon I had in my CVS app). This lip mask is formulated with rose oil, shea butter, cupuacu butter & hyaluronic acid. It has a soft rose smell that’s not too overpowering. And it does work just as well as the high end brands for a fraction of the price. I’ve been using this every night for a couple weeks now, and my lips look and feel more soft and hydrated when I wake up in the morning.
Violet Voss Like a Boss Palette
I picked this up last month as I had some gift Sephora gift cards I got for Christmas burning a hole in my pocket. They had this palette and the Holy Grail palette on sale for $31.50 (down from $45). I’d never tried anything from Violet Voss and I liked the colors in this palette, so I decided to give it a go. I am SUPER impressed with this palette. First off, everything swatched really nicely. And I’ve tried almost every shade in the palette on my eyes and what I saw swatching translated to the eyes as well. The shadows are pigmented, easy to blend, haven’t creased on me and they last all day. I especially love the green and gold shades. So happy I decided to get it.
Tarte CC Undereye Corrector
This is actually a repurchase. I had used this awhile back and used it all up, but I wanted to try some other correctors. I found & loved the Benefit Boi-ing Brightening Concealer (formerly known as Erase Paste), but for some reason, Benefit discontinued it last year. So I’m back with the Tarte one, which is also really nice. I got the shade Light-Medium (there’s also a Medium-Deep shade) and it does a good job of canceling out the blue of my dark circles and brightening mu undereye area.
ELF Hydrating Camo Concealer
As most of you are aware.. I’m no 20-something behind this blog. I’m in my 40s. Meaning my underye area is on the dryish side and well… wrinkles. It is SO FREAKING HARD to find a concealer that doesn’t accentuate what I already have. I need something on the hydrating side but I also want coverage. I’d been using the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer for awhile, and I really like it. But it’s medium coverage at best. An acquaintance of mine on Facebook (who’s also well over 20-something), mentioned the new Hydrating Camo Concealer from ELF was really good, so I decided to see for myself and picked one up recently at Ulta. I got the shade Light Peach, which I thought might be a little too light, but ended up being a pretty good shade for me. You need just the TINIEST amount (like 2 tiny dots) because it is so high coverage. When you don’t use too much, it blends out really nicely and doesn’t look cakey. I set it with just a tiny dusting of the Hourglass Veil translucent powder and it doesn’t make my old-ass underyes look any worse than they already are.
MAC Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul
I blame this one on my IG friend Cheryl, who works at the MAC store at Disney Springs. She put this on me last month and I loved how it looked, so I ended up caving and buying it about a week later. I’ve mainly avoided glowy blushes since I’m oily/combo, but this one is so freaking gorgeous. It’s described as a “mid tone beige with gold pearl”. The gold is subtle but enough I can actually forgo highlighter if I want when wearing this blush. It’s so light and pretty and basically impossible to go overboard when applying. I love “idiot-proof” makeup like that. I’ve been grabbing for this blush over most others since I bought it. I think the term “obsessed” is so overused in the beauty community, but I will admit I’ve been exactly that regarding this blush.
Lurrose Makeup Removing Pads
Several years ago, I had a Makeup Eraser sent to me as PR to test out and review, and I loved it (you can check out my review here if you missed it). I’ve decided to cut back on how many makeup wipes I use, since so many aren’t biodegradable (though I know some brands are coming out with biodegradable versions). I’d seen ads for these reusable makeup remover pads on Instagram and they looked nice. I went on Amazon and looked at the options they had available, and decided to go with these ones from Lurrose as they had a high rating with a lot of reviews. They came in a pack of 4 for I think $12.99 (and it also came with a bonus spa headband). The premise with these is the same as the Makeup Eraser. They’re made with a soft microfiber material. You just get it wet with warm water, wring out the excess and then gently rub around your face to remove your makeup. And these work really well. They even do a great job removing waterproof mascara and eyeliner. My face feels clean afterward, no residue for film left behind. And when they’re dirty? Just pop them into a mesh laundry bag for delicates and toss in the washer with a load of laundry! Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
And that’s everything!
As always, thank you all so much for reading and your support. I’ll see you again soon in my next post!
