Recent Purchases & Mini Reviews: Hits and Misses

Hey guys! How’s it going?

I know, I’ve been MIA again. Things have been busy, but that’s just a veil excuse. I really just hadn’t been in the mood to blog the last couple weeks. And I apologize for that. But I’m back now!

Today, I thought I’d share with you guys some things I’ve picked up over the last month & a half and do some mini reviews as well. Got lots of winners and one stinker in this bunch.

You ready? Let’s get started!

LA Girl Line Art Matte Eyeliner

I picked this up on a whim as I started having issues with my NYX Epic Ink liner. It started bleeding & feathering like crazy. Not cute. This one doesn’t do that. It’s very black, you can create thin or thick lines and it dries matte. Lasts all day without fading or smudging/flaking.

LA Girl Just Blushing Blush in Just Natural

I picked this up on a whim as well. This is a pretty peachy nude shade with a matte finish. I’ve seen these blushes reviewed on YouTube & always thought the packaging looked cheap. It’s actually much better in person. It doesn’t feel cheap when I hold it. The blush is really nice and lasts pretty much all day on me.

LA Girl Shady Slim Eyebrow Pencil in Espresso

I’m always looking for affordable brow products. I’d had good luck with everything I’ve tried from LA Girl and thought this would be a winner too. NOPE. First off, the shade “Espresso” was a bit too light and also pulled too warm on me. The formula of the pencil also felt too waxy and went on patchy. Big miss on this one. Had to use a stock photo as I already returned this.

Stilazzi x Jordan Liberty Darkroom Palette

Stilazzi is a brand more known with professional MUA’s. I was introduced to the brand a couple years ago at The Makeup Show (got one if their brushes & a single pan blush and liked both). Jordan Liberty is one of my fave MUA’s. When I saw on Jordan’s IG he created a palette with Stilazzi, I was intrigued. It looked gorgeous. And it sold out quickly in the initial launch earlier this summer. I was patient and finally treated myself to this for my birthday earlier this month. This palette is gorgeous. I plan on doing a full review of this, so not going to say too much. But I will say I couldn’t put it down the first 2 weeks I had it.

Juvia’s Place The Tribe Palette

This had been on my radar since it was announced late last year. It just spoke to me. But it was constantly sold out & I could never score when restocks happened. But select Ultas started carrying it in-store, including a few in my area. Saw it in person, swatched it and took it home. I plan on doing a full review of this one as well, so again, not saying too much here. But I’ve been enjoying playing with it.

Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim Pencil

There ARE good, affordable/drugstore brow products out there. You just need to find them. This one is a big winner for me. I got the shade Deep Brown, which is perfect. I love the micro pencil. It’s pigmented, goes on smooth with no tugging, not too waxy & not too creamy. This and the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer are my top 2 drugstore brow pencils.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Sailor

Ulta had ColourPop Super Shock shadows & highlighters on sale 25% off not too long ago, and I picked one up in the shade Sailor (warm beige with multi color glitter). This shade is gorgeous! It doesn’t look like much at first, but it can give a neutral look a little extra something. I see mainly blue glitter instead of multi-color, but it’s still really pretty.

ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter in Smoke N Whistles

I picked this up with Sailor. I only had one other Super Shock Highlighter (Highly Waisted, which I think has been discontinued). Smoke N Whistles is described as “cool tone pink champagne with silver”. Yep I bought something cool tone again. WHO AM I?! This is really pretty. I like pairing this with when I use the CP Fame palette.

Becca Mineral Blush in Flowerchild

I remember hearing a lot about these blushes when they first came out. I scored mine at Marshall’s for a whopping $6.99 (they were originally $32). Flowerchild is described as a peachy pink with light gold shimmer. I usually don’t care for most shimmery blushes, with a few exceptions (mainly Rose Champagne by Wet N Wild… love that one). But this blush is really pretty and the shimmer is very subtle. I’ve been reaching for it a lot since I got my hands on it.

And I think that’s pretty much everything! What new goodies have you picked up recently?

As always, thank you all so much for reading! I’ll see you again soon in my next post!

  1. You picked up some lovely goodies. I need to check LA Girl brand. That Stilazi eyeshadow palette is so pretty. Thanks for introducing this brand I had no idea about it. Colourpop products are my fav too. I got the Flowerchild blush in my Becca split pan compact and love the shade. 🙂
