I’m still dealing with moving stuff. Been getting things packed & decluttered. I got the charity thrift shop I’m donating a bunch of stuff to coming next weekend to pick it all up. Mainly just waiting for the renovations on the new place to be finished (that’s all on the contractors doing the work though). But I wanted to jump on here and give you guys a post so you don’t forget about me.
Today? Empties. The empties basket has been piling up and it’s time to empty. Some of these are products I’ve used up months ago and others are more recently used up. I let my empties sit around for too long before I finally do a post about them. My own fault.
Anyhow….. You ready? Let’s get going!
Only got one skincare product, and it’s two of the same one.
Garnier Micellar Water – I go through these like they’re going out of style. I like the one with the pink cap the best. I mainly use this for taking off my eye makeup, then going over the rest of my face after removing all my makeup to make sure I got everything. I have another bottle I’m almost halfway through using. I like how it does a good job removing makeup, but doesn’t leave a film/residue like some micellar waters can.
Got just a couple hair products this time around too.
Rusk Thickr Hairspray – Seriously… guys… go to TJ Maxx/Marshall’s for high end/salon haircare at a fraction of the cost! I got this one on clearance for I think $6 (retails for $15.50 at Ulta). I have baby fine hair, so a hairspray that promises to give my hair texture and volume is right up my alley. This hairspray does work and I like it a lot. It also helps fight humidity a bit (another must for me). I’ll probably repurchase this again sometime.
Sebastian Shaper+ Hairspray – Another Marshall’s find. It retails for $19.50 but I got it for $7.99. This is another good one. Gives good hold without making my hair feel stiff or crunchy and it also helps fight humidity. I have another can I’m going through right now. I’d repurchase this again too.
And now… MAKEUP! *fanfare*
I have three foundations I’ve used up in the last…. several months.
Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Foundation – This one gave a nice medium coverage that could be built up and had a natural finish. Sadly it was discontinued at the end of 2017 (I got on clearance at Sephora in January 2018), so I can’t repurchase it. It was a pretty spendy foundation anyway (retailed for $48).
Bare Minerals BarePro Foundation – This is one of my top 3 high end foundations. It has great coverage (starts as a high medium coverage and can be built up to full), has a satin finish and lasts all day on me. I also like it has SPF 20 in it. I’ve been a big Bare Minerals fan for over 10 years. Loved their original foundation as well as a lot of their other products. I just repurchased a fresh bottle of this last weekend at the Bare Minerals store at the mall (they were having a 20% off everything sale). I wear shade 10 Cool Beige.
L’Oreal Infallible Freshwear Foundation – I think this is the fastest I’ve ever used any foundation because I used it often. It’s that good. It’s been a long time since a drugstore foundation exceeded my expectations and this one knocked it out of the ballpark for me. The coverage is great (solid medium and can be built up to full without looking cakey) and has great staying power. I’ve already repurchased this as well. I currently wear shade 435 Rose Vanilla.
Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer – I got a mini of this back in February and used it almost every day. The hype surrounding this primer is legit. It’s that good. It works great with every foundation I own. I love how it makes my skin feel silky smooth before makeup application. It even seems to help control oil a bit too. I purchased a new one during the spring Sephora sale and I’m using it several times a week as well. I may have to splurge and get the full size next time.
L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara – I liked this a lot. It’s definitely a dupe of the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. Actually, I think it’s even a little better than the Too Faced one. It’s a drier formula in comparison, which I like (mascaras that are too wet can get… messy). It did a great job making my lashes look fuller and didn’t smudge, flake or crumble on me. I’m currently trying the waterproof version, which is ok, but I think I like this original version better.
And to wrap things up, I have three brow products I’ve finished up, though two are of the same thing.
Maybelline Total Temptation Brow Definer – If you’ve been reading my blog, you’ll know this story. One morning I was running late for work and didn’t have time to do my brows. Normally I’d just let it go, but I had somewhere to be after work and didn’t have time to go home first. There’s a CVS up the road from my work, so I stopped there and grabbed one of these on a whim to try, then sat in my car and did my brows in the rear-view mirror. I ended up liking how this pencil worked (did a great job filling them in), so I kept using it. Actually, I kept it in my bag for future brow emergencies. When I finally used it up, I repurchased it. And I’ll probably repurchase again in the future. Oh I used the shade Deep Brown in this.
ColourPop Precision Brow Pencil – When I placed an order with ColourPop at the end of April, I got one of their Best In Brows kits that comes with their brow pomade, Brow Boss gel, Brow Boss pencil and Precision Brow Pencil. I thought the Precision Brow Pencil was defective because it woudn’t turn up product, so I emailed ColourPop about it and they sent me a replacement no questions asked. Well I played around with my original pencil more and… it started working. Whoops! I ended up liking this a lot! I got the “Dark Brown” Best In Brows kit, so this pencil came in Cool Cocoa. I love the super fine point and it does a great job filling in my brows. I’m already using the replacement that was sent to me. I’ll probably order this once again by itself.
And that’s everything! What products have you used up recently?
As always, thank you all so much for reading! I’ll see you again soon in my next post!
