Anti-Haul: Fall/Winter 2018 Edition

Hey guys! How’s it going? Can you believe it’s already November?

Well it’s been awhile, but I have another anti-haul for you guys. There really hasn’t been a lot in new beauty/makeup releases that’s been on my radar. What’s being released right now has mostly been underwhelming for me. But there are some things I know I have absolutely NO intention of buying even though they’re all over the place right now (spoiler alert – lots of palettes).

So…. let’s just be a little catty for a bit today!

Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette

Yeah this one is everywhere right now. I already have enough palettes with pinks/reds in them. I actually don’t even own any of the Naked Palettes. I’ve either found suitable dupes or I’m just not interested in general. It’s pretty, but not something I need or even want.

Huda Beauty Nude Palette

Everyone is going BONKERS for this right now. To me it’s just…. meh. I have more than enough nude/neutral palettes. I’m the type that loves playing with color (my recent purchase of the Juvia’s Place Afrique palette is a testament to that). Every day. Yep even workdays (I work in a small office and I’m alone a lot… actually I could probably go in wearing a bag over my head and no one would probably notice). So yeah, for me personally, I’m over the neutral thing. But a lot of people LIKE neutrals and find color intimidating… and that’s ok (though I’d love to see more step out pf their comfort zone and experiment with color). I do have Huda’s Mauve Obsessions palette, which I do like (and the Jewel Obsessions palettes look gorgeous, but I don’t need them), so it’s nothing against her.

Pat McGrath Mothership Palettes

Mothership V

These do look really pretty. But… $125?! Oh hell no! I got limits on how much I’ll spend on a palette. If I was super rich, $125 would probably just be a drop in the bucket. I just can’t justify it. Like I said, the shadows do look really pretty and I’m sure the formula is amazing, Unfortunately I gotta do the sucky adulting thing when it comes to this. Now if someone wanted to buy one of these for me, well be my guest! LOL!

Pat McGrath MTHRSHP Palettes

MTHRSHP Sublime Bronze Ambition

While we’re on Pat McGrath… she recently released these 3 smaller eye palettes: Sublime Bronze Ambition, Subliminal Platinum Bronze, and Subversive La vie En Rose. Again, look pretty. But the price. $55 for 6 shadows? That’s a big NOPE from me. Can’t justify it. Why do these things have to be so expensive?

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 4

Hourglass makes some amazing powder products. I have the Strobe Highlighter in Incandescent (a gorgeous, subtle highlight, which is perfect for the days I don’t want to be a walking disco ball) and a mini of the Dim Light powder (used to use it to set my undereye, but it’s too dark now… and if I use it all over my face, I look like a greaseball, so I might declutter it soon). I’ve heard really good things about these Ambient Lighting Edit palettes, but I’m not a big face palette person. I’d rather have a couple shades/products I know I’ll use instead of a palette of 6-8 face products I may not even use half of.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Palette

This one is blowing up everywhere right now too. At first it caught my eye because of that bright pop of coral in it. But take that away and… oh look another neutral palette! I got enough of those. Plus it’s a more cool-toned palette and I don’t do cool tones. They don’t look good on me. They make me look washed out/sick. But if you DO like cool tones and like neutrals, this could be the perfect palette for you.

Dyson Air Wrap

OMG. This thing. Everyone is talking about it right now. I’ve seen some of the reviews on it. No… just… NO. It’s $499. Come on! Seriously…. WTH?! You can buy a refrigerator or a range for that price. That’s more than an average car payment even. From what I’ve seen, it DOES work, but it looks so time consuming and too much of a hassle with having to change the barrels for what you want to do with it. The IDEA of it is great though. It should’ve maybe been executed a little better, you know? I’ll just stick with my regular hair dryer and curling iron.

And that’s it for this anti-haul! Do you agree with me on any of these? Disagree? Agree to disagree? What are you anti-hauling right now? Sound off below in the comments.

As always, thank you all so much for reading. I’ll see you again soon in my next post!

  1. High five, I don’t own any of the UD Naked palettes either and I’m not about to with the Naked Cherry. It has no appeal for me.

Yeah… the Pat McGrath. As I said in my IG post, they’re perfectly good shadows but they didn’t blow my mind to justify the cost. If I want to spend my money, I’d rather choose some Make Up For Ever customizable shadows. Lesson learned!

I’m sick of seeing the Dyson Air Wrap on my YT feed! You know my thoughts on their hairdryer – no way I’m ever going to try this gimmicky hair roller.

I’m Anti-Hauling every single Holiday collection. We all know their quality is always sub-par anyway. 🙄

    • LeighAnnSays on YT did a review of that Dyson Airwrap and she was totally honest. It worked, but it was really time consuming and a hassle every time she needed to change out the barrels. And it’s not travel friendly either (the storage case it comes in is HUGE). So she concluded overall it’s not worth it.

Yeah most holiday sets really do have subpar quality. Sometimes I’ll go for one of the mini lip kits or something. And I’ll get my best friend a bath/body holiday set for Christmas. I was gonna include some holidays sets in this post and forgot. The packaging almost always impractical too.
