Hey guys! How’s it going?
I got a little collective haul today to share. I’ve picked up some stuff in a few separate trips to TJ Maxx and placed an order with Ulta with the 20% off coupon they recently sent to Platinum rewards members. Got a little of everything – makeup, skin care, hair care…. I’ve been using some of these products for awhile now, so I can give my thoughts on some.
So let’s just jump right into it, shall we?
So I made visits to like 3 different TJ Maxx’s in my area. I like shopping there for skin care stuff. And that’s what i mainly picked up, but I got some other stuff too.
L’arvore Hyaluronic Soft Toner – This is a Korean brand that I’d never heard of before now. They had this toner and a rose toner. I picked this one because I’m a fan of hyaluronic acid. I’ve been using this toner for 2 or 3 weeks now and so far I’m liking it a lot. It’s very gentle, doesn’t break me out, doesn’t sting if I have any sensitive areas and does a good job removing any excess dirt/oil & makeup. Apparently this brand also has some makeup products according to their Facebook page. If I ever come across those, I might have to get some to try.
Batiste Dry Shampoo – I got this giant can of the Fresh scent on clearance for $7 (they normally retail for $13.99). No matter how many times I change dry shampoos, I’ll always end up back at Batiste at some point. It’s still my favorite, though the Ion one from Sally Beauty is really good too.
Valjean Labs Revive Vitamin C + Peptides Day Serum – This is the 2nd serum I’ve tried from this brand. I’d been using their Hydrate Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin B5 serum and really liked it, but I haven’t been able to find another bottle, so I got this Vitamin C + Peptides one. I like this one a lot too. It’s not harsh and it makes my skin feel nice and helps prep it for moisturizer.
Rata & Co. Chia Seed Oil Eye Cream – This is a brand from New Zealand. This eye cream retails for $16.50 US on their website, but I got it for just $5.99 at TJ Maxx! My eye area can be borderline dry, so I’m always looking for a good eye cream to help that area. I love the Belif Eye Bomb, but it’s WAY too expensive (it’s $10 MORE than their Aqua Bomb moisturizer… and you get LESS product!). This eye cream is infused with chia seed oil (antioxidant & anti-inflammatory properties), avocado oil (contains Vitamins A, D & E), and coconut oil (which is the end-all, be-all moisturizer for some). I’ve been using this for 2 or 3 weeks now and so far, it seems to be doing what it needs to do. It makes my eye area look more hydrated and it feels nice on that area too.
The Creme Shop Hello Kitty Tea Time Sheet Masks – I saw this and could not resist. At another TJ Maxx, I saw face masks featuring other Sanrio characters such as My Melody, Keroppi, Badtz-Maru and a couple other Hello Kitty ones. I looked to see if they had Chococat (my favorite Sanrio character), but no luck. Anyhow, I got the Tea Time sheet masks as it contained ingredients best for my skin (black tea for antioxidants & collagen for wrinkle reducing). The masks don’t look like Hello Kitty, but they have little Hello Kitty things printed on the mask, which is cute. I’ve used one so far (they came in a pack of 3) and I like it. I like the sheet masks from The Creme Shop in general. Part of me wants to try to get the Badtz-Maru ones (my 2nd fave Sanrio character).
Precision Beauty Retinol Under Eye Masks – I picked these up on a whim as it was a pack of 5 for like $3.99. Like I mentioned earlier, my eye area needs all the help it can get. So I’m willing to give something that promises to help reduce the look of wrinkles/lines in that area a fair shake (within reason). I used one of these so far, but haven’t seen much of a difference. But it takes at least 2-3 weeks before you start seeing any kind of results with skincare, so I’ll keep using these as I still have 4 sets left in the box. Will keep you posted.
Bare Minerals Blemish Remedy Mattifying Prep Gel – I don’t see primers too often at TJ Maxx. Bare Minerals is a brand that I’ve loved for a long time. This primer normally retails for $25 (currently $20 on the Bare Minerals site), but I got it for $7.99! I like using mattifying primers on my T-Zone, so I thought I’d give this one a try. It’s infused with aspen bark and tea tree oil, which is great for helping fight blemishes and breakouts.
And that’s everything I got at TJ Maxx! Onto the Ulta order! As I mentioned, I got a 20% off coupon from them (included high end), and I didn’t want to let it go to waste.
Juvia’s Place Afrique Palette – My first palette from Juvia’s Place! I wanted to just buy this in-store, but the closest Ulta to me that carries them in-store is too far away, so I just ordered online. This palette caught my eye as it was just jam-packed with color and a lot of the shades are ones I have NOTHING like in my collection. I’ve already swatched it and HOLY PIGMENT, BATMAN! I’m looking forward to playing with this bad boy.
ColourPop x Kathleen Lights Dream Street Palette – I’d had my eye on this for awhile. I don’t watch Kathleen Lights. I used to, but then lost interest in her after awhile. But the colors in this palette caught my attention, so I finally caved and got it. I’m a sucker for teal shades. This is a really pretty palette though. I used it at the end of last week and loved the look I came up with using just 3 shades in it. Looking forward to playing with it more.
Morphe M421 Mini Concealer Brush – I like using flat concealer brushes for packing color on the lid. I felt this one in-store and realized it would be perfect for exactly that. Plus it was super inexpensive at $3.50. I have a love/hate relationship with Morphe. I haven’t had any issues with their brushes & palette I have from them, but I know people who have. Plus I know they can be pretty shady (all that drama surrounding the Jaclyn Hill Vault, a lawsuit with Becca… I could go on but I won’t).
Dashing Diva MagicPress Press On Nails in Trailblaizer – Ulta recently started carrying this brand on their website. You can also find them at Sally Beauty. I’ve gone through 2 sets of their nails in the style Brave New World (matte dark blue with chrome accent nails – I’m wearing them as I write this and you can see photos on my Instagram) and really like them. Trailbalzer looked like a fun one and right up my alley. The quality of these nails are nice quality. Sturdy. The press-on adhesive keeps them on for about a week.
I had also orderedd a ColourPop SuperShock shadow in the shade Bae (eggplant purple base with blue glitter), but it arrived broken & half of it missing (how does that even happen?). I took it back to my Ulta to exchange it for a new one, but they didn’t carry that shade at my store (boo), so I just got a refund instead. But Ulta had send me a SECOND 20% off coupon the day before, so I ended up picking up a couple things I forgot to include in my initial order:
MAC Fix+ – This is just a little mini/travel size. I bought one at the MAC store at Disney Springs back in the middle of July and had just finished it up. It takes me forever to use a full size bottle of Fix+, so getting a smaller size makes sense for me because I also don’t use it every day. But knowing this little bottle will last me about 3½ months… that’s perfect.
L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer – I got this as a backup so I’ll be ready to go once I finish up the one I’m currently using. I get the shade Dark Brunette, which is an EXACT DUPE for the shade Medium Brown from Anastasia. I like this brow pencil a LOT and now that I finally found the perfect drugstore dupe for me (most pull too warm or are too light), I’ll probably never buy another Brow Wiz again (unless I can get a good deal on it).
And that’s everything! I’ll definitely do more in-depth reviews of the eye palettes. Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like me to do a review on!
As always, thank you all so much for reading. I’ll see you again soon in my next post!
