Hey there, beauties! How’s your week going?
For today’s post, I’ll be doing mini reviews of some lipglosses I’ve picked up recently as well as show some swatches. Got lots to talk about, so grab yourself a beverage and let’s get this thing started!
First up is the Milani Brilliant Shine lipgloss in the shade Luminous. This is a pretty, sheer gloss that’s described as a “shimmering pinky peach”. It definitely has some sparkle in it, but it’s not like you’re applying a disco ball to your lips. Since it’s on the sheer side, you can pair it with just about any lipstick or lip pencil to give it a little extra something. This gloss doesn’t feel overly sticky and lasts a few hours if you’re not eating or drinking. This gloss retails for $4.99.
Next is the Essence XXXL Shine lipgloss in the shade True Love. This gloss is a warm berry color that pulls more on the red side and also has some shimmer. These glosses contain Vitamin E and panthenol to prevent your lips from feeling dry. It feels lightweight and not too sticky. Oh and it smells amazing! It’s got a decent amount of color to it but also a little sheer. This gloss looks great paired with the Essence liner in Red Blush or even on its own for a hint of color. This gloss retails for $2.49.
Next is the Sephora Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Shimmering Fresh Peach. This is, as the name implies, a shimmery peach shade. These glosses are infused with Volulip Active, which claims to help stimulate hyaluronic acid synthesis in lips for a smoothing effect. This gloss again isn’t overly sticky. I like how more glosses aren’t as sticky as they used to be. I like pairing this gloss with various peachy or nude lip pencils or lipsticks. This particular shade appears to have been discontinued by Sephora, but they have other shades available. They usually retail for $14, but as of this writing, they’re on sale for $7.
And next are a couple of the Makeup Revolution Salvation Intense Lip Lacquers. The first shade is called No Ordinary Love, which is a melon pink shade that looks nice on its own or paired with a peach or nude pink lip pencil or lipstick. The other shade is called Nothing Like Anything, which is described as a “brownish berry” shade, but I see it more as brownish peachy pink type shade. This gloss has really good pigmentation and looks great all on its own or you could pair it with a coordinating liner for more staying power. Neither of these glosses are sticky, but they do have a kind of weird smell that I really can’t describe (it fades after applying though). These glosses retail for $5 at Ulta (as of this writing, Ulta has Makeup Revolution on special buy one, get one 50% off).
Up next is the Rimmel Stay Glossy lipgloss in the shade All Night Long. This is a sheer deep berry shade with some shimmer. It’s a pretty color that looks good paired with a coordinating liner or lipstick or you could wear on its own for just a hint of color. These glosses promise to stay on for up to 6 hours, which might be true if you’re not eating or drinking, but definitely a stretch if you are. Again it feels lightweight but it’s a little stickier than the other glosses mentioned. This gloss retails for $2.99-$4.99 depending on where you purchase it.
And finally we have the Makeup Academy Luminizing Lip Gloss in the shade Brick. This is a very pretty kind of terracotta red shade, which is perfect for this time of year. It has really good pigmentation, so you could totally wear this on its own. It’s not overly sticky and lasts at least a few hours before having to reapply. This gloss retails for $8 at CVS (MUA is a CVS exclusive in the States).
Ok how about some swatches?
Alright that should do it for today! Have you tried any of these lipglosses?
As always, thank you all so much for reading! Have a good one and I’ll see you again Friday with a new post! 🙂
