Hi everyone! Hope you weekend was a good one.
Today I’m going to give you some easy beauty and makeup hack ideas, so let’s get started!
Turn an eyeliner pencil into a gel liner using a flame. Stick your kohl pencil under a flame (from a lighter, match, etc.) for one second, then allow to cool for 15 seconds. The consistency will change and you can use your new “gel liner” for a thicker/smudgier look.
Use the outside curved part of a spoon or a business card when applying mascara to your upper lashes (place between your lashes and eyelid) to avoid smudges.
Normally you’re only supposed to use mascara for around 3 months as beyond that the wand can collect bacteria, but if your mascara is looking dry or flaky before the 3 month mark, add a couple drops of saline solution to the tube to re-wet it.
Blowing hot air on your eyelash curler will help your lashes curl easier and stay curled longer; it works the same way heat changes the pattern of your hair and holds a curl with a curling iron. To do it, hit the lash curler with your blow dryer until it heats up, wait until it cools slightly but is still warm (you don’t want to burn your eyelid), then clamp down on your lashes to curl them.
For long-lasting lip color, swipe on your shade, then lay a tissue over your mouth, and then dust translucent powder over it to set the color.
Instead of dotting where you need it, apply your under-eye concealer in a triangle shape with the base of the triangle directly under your lashline and the point toward the bottom of your cheek. This shape helps conceal any redness at the bottom of your eye and at the sides, and then instantly creates the illusion that your face is lifted, since the brightest point is the most intense under your eye.
While we’re on under-eye concealer, keep it from creasing by by applying a light primer to the area before you add concealer. Be sure that you add concealer with a beauty blending sponge and dab softly to create fewer lines. Then just add powder and you should have a smooth finish without the creases.
Is your face looking a little oily but you’re out of blotting sheets? Use a paper toilet seat cover in a pinch! Yes it sounds kind of gross, but the seat covers are made of similar materials that will help absorb excess oil.
Turn your favorite lip gloss into a puckering lip venom by adding a a drop or two of peppermint oil to the tube.
Want to dry your nail polish extra quick? There are a few different ways that you can try. The freezer works well or you can simply dip your nails into ice water after you finish polishing them. Leave them in the ice water for just a few seconds and it will help to set the polish. You can also use a blow dryer or spray Pam cooking spray on your nails to set the polish and help protect it from cracks.
Are you a klutz (like me) and are always smacking into things? Did you know you can treat a bruise using…. mouthwash? Yes it’s true! Just dip a cotton ball or cotton swab into some mouthwash and dab it over the bruise. It will help the bruise clear up faster and instantly make it look a little better too.
If you have a dreaded zit that just pops up out of nowhere and you have a special evening planned, you can tone down the pimple just a bit by dabbing it with Visine. Visine helps to bring the redness to a bare minimum. Just soak a cotton ball in it and then hold it on your zit for a few minutes. The redness will go away for a few hours and you can cover up the zit itself with concealer.
And there you have it! Do you have a favorite beauty or makeup hack not listed here? Tell me about it below in the comments!
