Summer Hair Care Tips

Happy Friday, everyone!

Today I’m going to share some tips to keep your hair looking its best this summer.

Have color treated hair but love to hit the pool/beach? Saturate your hair with some bottled water before diving in. It’ll help preserve your color by protecting it a bit from pool chemicals and saltwater. And don’t forget to rinse out your hair when you get out of the water as well.

Victim to dry/frizzy hair over the hot, humid summer months? A deep conditioning treatment or mask will help tame your locks. An anti-frizz hair spray will also help protect your hair from the frizzies.

Want natural beachy waves but don’t live near the ocean? Try a sea salt spray and scrunch your hair after applying.

Your hair needs protection from the sun just as much as your skin does. Spritz your hair with a leave-in conditioner and reapply every time you also reapply your normal sunscreen. Look for products that state they protect against UVA/UVB rays as well and don’t forget to spray your scalp/part as that will burn just as much (sometimes even worse) as your regular skin.

If your have an oily scalp/hair, the summer months can make it worse. For a quick fix, dip a cotton ball in Witch Hazel (a natural astringent that dissolves oil) and blot your scalp along your part and around your hairline.

Do you have short bangs that are a pain to deal with when it gets hot and humid? A spritz of dry shampoo will help. An alternate way to deal with damp bangs is to blot your forehead, scalp and bangs with a face oil blotting sheet to absorb excess greasiness and spray your bangs with a flexible hold hairspray to seal in your style.

Want your curls made with a curling iron/wand to last longer? After curling each section, spray it with hairspray (a curl enhancing one works best) and allow it to cool (remember, curls don’t set until they have cooled off). Once you’ve finished and all the curls have cooled, gently run your fingers through your hair to create a natural look.

Have short, fine hair? You don’t need to wash it every day (unless you have an excessively oily scalp). You can still rinse with water on the days you don’t wash it though if you want.

And there you have it! Do you have any summer hair care tips not listed here you’d like to share? Let me know about it below in the comments!

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you again Monday!
